AMAC Aerospace Switzerland AG continues to invest at the EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg. Phase two sees construction of another, larger hangar.

AMAC Aerospace Switzerland AG has been providing high quality maintenance, refurbishment and completion services for corporate and private aircraft since mid-October 2008.

The initial construction phase, which began at the end of March 2008, involved building a double hangar at EuroAirport with floorspace of 4,200m², workshops and technical offices totalling 1,800m² and the company’s own 20,000m² tarmac area. Construction work and final preparations for the facility at Basel-Mulhouse Airport were completed on schedule at the end of September 2008.

Second construction phase begins

In a second phase of construction, lasting till spring 2010, a further large investment in a wide-body hangar with floorspace of around 8,400m², along with further workshops and offices will be made. Building work will commence within the next few days, and the opening is scheduled for April 2010. The AMAC hangars will comfortably accommodate multiple wide-body aircraft such as Boeing B747s, B787s, Airbus A330s, as well as smaller business jets of every type. Furthermore one AMAC hangar can easily be extended to host the new Airbus A380.

More contracts and healthy order books

AMAC Aerospace’s order books are looking very healthy. Various new completion contracts and declarations of intent for refurbishment and maintenance work have been signed.

Growth on track

AMAC Aerospace’s initial development phase is going according to plan. The company’s workforce is set to expand from the current 180 to about 300 by the end of 2010. Heinz Köhli, CEO of AMAC Aerospace Switzerland AG, remains confident: “We are pleased that we have been able to continue expanding as planned despite the difficult economic situation. Market developments and the positive long-term orders situation are enabling us to keep growing. We are positioning ourselves in a specific niche, but have been able to establish ourselves effectively in the market in recent years.”

AMAC Aerospace Switzerland AG provides high quality services for corporate and private aircraft. These services include maintenance, refurbishment and completion, as well as aircraft management and chartering.

The company was founded in mid-2007 by Heinz Köhli, Kadri Muhiddin, Bernd Schramm and Mauro Grossi. It currently employs around 180 people at EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg.
