AMAC Aerospace continues to expand; the start of AMAC’s hangar 5 in Basel, Switzerland, started in April 2019. The property of AMAC Aerospace at the Euro Airport will be extended by approximately 22’000m2. This fifth hangar will be dedicated exclusively to Bombardier’s and mid size platforms/ products, as AMAC is the ASF (Authorized Service Facility) of Bombardier and the request for maintenance support is constantly growing.

“The design of hangar 5 will be completely different than the other hangars. Due to safety margins of the EuroAirport, the new hangar will not have the round roof, as the position will be next to the runway.” said Philippe Schurrer, Director Safety & Security, and Facility Management.

The new hangar shall be 4850m2 and wood will be the dominating material inside the hangar, resembling the other four hangars.

“Hangar 5 will be the longest hangar AMAC has ever built. It will be 120 meter long” said Philippe Schurrer.

The space allows AMAC Aerospace to position 3-4 Bombardier, Global 7500 or 6-7 Bombardier, Challenger 350. The hangar is expected to be finished in Q2, 2020.
